Showtime releases trailer for ‘The Man Who Fell to Earth’

Showtime has released the trailer for its new series, The man who fell to earthwhich will feature Oscar nominees Chiwetel Ejiofor (strange doctor, 12 years of slavery) and Naomie Harris (Moonlight, celestial fall). The series is set to have a two-episode premiere on April 24, according to a press release from Showtime.

According to Walter Tevis (mocking bird, The Queen’s Bet) of the same name, The man who fell to earth follows an alien who arrives on Earth at a turning point in human evolution and must confront his past to determine the future of humanity. The alien will meet an engineer and scientist who will have to conquer her fears to save two worlds.

The new trailer features Justin, a single mother struggling to make ends meet and whose life changes after meeting an alien, Farraday (Ejiofor). Throughout the trailer, Justin and his new alien acquaintance find themselves at odds with government figures trying to figure out who he is and what he’s doing on Earth.

Alongside Ejiofor and Harris, the series will also star Jimmi Simpson (It’s always sunny in Philadelphia), Rob Delaney (Disaster), Sonya Cassidy (Lodge 49), Joana Ribeiro (Mother Paula), Annelle Olaleye (The child who wanted to be king), Kate Mulgrew (Star Trek: Voyager), Clarke Peters (Da 5 Bloods), and Bill Nighy (love in fact).

The series was originally scheduled to air on Paramount+ in 2021 before moving to Showtime following the ViacomCBS merger in 2021.

Rola Bauer (Treasure Guards, Lines of pedestrian crossings) and Francoise Guyonnet (Handyman, tailor, soldier, spy, Paddington 2) will serve as executive producers. Alex Kurtzman (The Mummy) and Jenny Lumet (Questions and answers) will also serve as an executive producer, while writing the series. Kurtzman directed several episodes of the series.

The man who fell to earth is set to debut April 24 on Showtime. Check out the trailer below.
