In their latest spotlight on notable comic book debuts, CSBG shows Peacemaker’s first encounter with the Suicide Squad in the DC Universe.

Today we watch when Peacemaker, who is a member of the team in the DC Extended Universe and now the current Suiicide Squad comic, first met the team in the DC Universe.

In “When We First Met” we spotlight the various characters, phrases, objects or events that eventually became notable pieces of comic lore, like the first time someone said “Avengers Assemble! ” or the first appearance of Batman’s giant penny or the first appearance of Alfred Pennyworth or the first time Spider-Man’s face was shown half-Spidey / half-Peter. Stuff like that.

One of the fascinating things about the DC Universe in the wake of Crisis on Infinite Earths is that, at least in the books about the United States government, things were taken very seriously regarding the connection between the different titles, which all worked. for the government, but of course different groups had different agendas.

The three main projects were the Suicide Squad, the Checkmate spy group, and Project Atom, which created Captain Atom. There were also a few side projects, namely Project: Peacemaker and the US Security Agency’s Force of July group. The main groups are pretty much all considered Take Force X.

The story begins when Amanda Waller reveals to Checkmate that the other groups in Task Force X are working against them and that they must be eliminated …

Peacemaker and a few Checkmate agents capture Dr Megala, Project Atom’s top scientist, and in doing so, nearly kill Project Atom’s Wade Eiling. Project Atom then sends one of its agents, the sadistic Major Force, who tracks down the kidnapped Dr. Megala and meets Peacemaker, who plans to kill him …

The squad is brought in to eliminate Dr. Megala themselves while he is in Ckeckmate’s custody and when the squad shows up they see Peacemaker and Major Force clash and Vixen orders the squad to take them down. BOTH and Shade the Changing Man uses his belt to give Peacemaker a heavy blow to start …

Peacemaker, you see, was the son of a former Nazi commander and he was REALLY screwed up because of it, psychotically. His father was a strict disciplinarian, so he imagines his father yelling at him, at the same time he is disgusted by his father’s Nazi beliefs. A dazed Peacemker decides to finish his mission and kill Dr. Megala …

The explosion kills Megala (apparently) and nearly kills Count Vertigo …

There was a lot more blood in this panel than in a typical 1988 comic, so in the context of this scene, the Suicide Squad movie might not even be as bloody as this one, all things considered!

Peacemaker later attacks the Suicide Squad for revenge …

We then learn that villainous Kobra is trying to replace key government figures with clones he controls and one of those clones was supposed to replace Waller, but instead Waller beat his doppelganger and now accepts it. until she reveals the truth. to other project managers …

The combined team travels to outer space to bring down the Kobra …

In an impressive streak, the Duchess and the Peacemaker share a moment …

Kobra is ultimately defeated by the Combined Groups.
