Movies That Kids Can Enjoy This Halloween | Lifestyles

Horror movies are a staple for many Halloween enthusiasts every October. Classic characters like Freddy Krueger, Michael Myers, and Jigsaw make their way into the living rooms of millions of people each year and are a testament to the endurance of horror films.

Fear might be what a lot of people want on Halloween night, but these movies are best left to teens and adults. As for which movies are more kid-friendly this Halloween, parents can try these classics.

· “It’s the Big Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” (1966): Parents can stroll through Memory Lane and enjoy this classic that has entertained kids for over half a century. The Peanuts gang’s costumes, especially Charlie Brown’s, get a few laughs, while kids will no doubt be in awe when Linus talks about the Big Pumpkin.

· “Monsters Inc.” (2001): Halloween wouldn’t be the same without monsters, but the monsters in this beloved Pixar classic are decidedly more kid-friendly and definitely funnier than Frankenstein.

· “Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit” (2005): This film based on the British stop-motion comedy franchise gave the feature-length treatment to Wallace and his dog, Gromit. The action in the film centers around Tottington Hall’s annual Giant Vegetable Contest, and features enough silliness to make kids laugh throughout its 85-minute run.

· “Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island” (1998): Young people who love Scooby-Doo and his mystery-solving buddies are no doubt used to a few slightly spooky moments, so this story that unfolds when the gang goes to Louisiana to investigate a haunted mansion is sure to please.

· “AND the Extra-Terrestrial” (1982): Produced and directed by Hollywood legend Steven Spielberg, this film tells the story of a young boy named Elliott who befriends a charismatic alien. The film is packed with memorable scenes and dialogue, and parents who watched it as children will no doubt love the chance to see their own young’s eyes light up at the sight of ET.
