MERIDIAN, Idaho- The City of Meridian Parks and Recreation advertised on facebook that they cancel the next one Sparklight Movie Night Friday, June 17.

Meridian said they were canceling the event after incidents at last week’s movie night.

“The general concerns centered on the minors being loud with disruptive behavior and causing altercations,” Meridian Parks and Recreation said in the post.

Meridian said they will let the public know if any changes are made to the upcoming June 24 movie night.

Originally, Meridian Parks and Recreation intended to host the 16e season of the annual Sparklight Movie Night with a new movie every Friday night from June 10 to August 19.

“Movies in the Park has become a summertime tradition for families. We are thrilled to invite new members of our city’s community to join us,” Renee White, recreation coordinator for Meridian Parks & Recreation, told KTVB. .

Movie buffs can also enjoy Settlers Park’s Adventure Island Playground, which features Idaho’s first universally accessible playground, rock climbing, sound garden, and wading pool.

Every Friday evening, the films will be shown on a 30-foot inflatable screen. A designated seating area in the Settlers Park will be designated for the community to set up blankets and chairs.

After dark, Settlers Park is closed outside of the movie night seating area boundaries. The City of Meridian asks parents to avoid dropping off young people at the event unsupervised.

The 11 free outdoor movie nights are sponsored by Sparklight, the College of Western Idaho, Advanced Therapy Care and VCI Audio Entertainment.
