Christmas is only a few days away and this week many people in western New York State will be sitting down with family and friends to watch holiday movies and soak up the Christmas spirit. .
One movie that shouldn’t be on your vacation movie list is “Die Hard”. The Bruce Willis movie was released in 1988 and since its release date there has been a debate raging about whether or not this is a Christmas movie.
I’m here to tell you no! Sure, that might be a hot take, but after having had several discussions with several people, I have come to the conclusion that “Die Hard” is not a holiday movie.
I reduced the reasons to five. The first and most bad thing about “Die Hard” not being a Christmas movie is when it takes place.
In the movie, all of the action takes place in December, and there are a lot of Christmas decorations throughout the movie. It makes people think it must be a Christmas movie because of it. But the plot of the film is about a terrorist who seizes a building. It can happen at any time of the year. In the movie, it just happens in December.
Just because something happens in December doesn’t mean it has to do with Christmas. If the attempted takeover of Nakatomi Plaza took place in July, would it be a July 4th movie? If it took place in February, would it be a Valentine’s Day movie? No … so why consider it a Christmas movie because it’s set in December?
Again, this is only one of the five reasons. Check out all the reasons below.
